Like many naturalists, my eye has been drawn to the natural world since I was a child. It was the birds, though, that first ignited the passion for me. I have been birding for over thirty years, and an active member of natural history organizations most of that time. It was an easy move to leading field trips, and writing articles in naturalist newsletters, and I have been writing about natural history, and birds in particular, for over twenty years. For ten of these years, I wrote a weekly column called "Island Birds" in the Victoria, B.C. Times-Colonist. I have also written for many magazines about birds, birding, gardening for wildlife, and birding optics. Many of my articles have been illustrated with my photographs. I'm a Professional Member of the Professional Writers Association of Canada, and member of a workshop called the Chemainus Writers. |
